Actress Veronica Vanij is one of the most promising and talented young actresses in the Indian entertainment industry and needless to say, she’s on a rise in the Indian entertainment space and how. Over the years, the actress has focused on building credibility for herself professionally and no wonder, she’s been nothing less than a delight for every director and Producer who has worked with her. Apart from her work on-screen, Veronica is also immensely admired for her ability to speak and talk about issues that are relevant. Be it conversations on women empowerment or gender bias and other stuff, Veronica has always kept her point forward with utmost grace and humility and no wonder, everyone has resonated with her beliefs and point of views. She doesn’t shy away from talking about pertinent issues and well, that’s why, at a recent event, when she was asked about the status of women empowerment in Bollywood and what’s really the way forward, she poured her heart out on the matter. On being asked about the same, the actress said and we quote,
“All thanks to some visionary directors and some really strong and powerful women, the awareness around women empowerment and ‘nari shakti’ is a lot more than before. Having said that, I truly feel that at times, more than pushing forward the actual essence of women empowerment, sometimes, some people use it as a narrative just for commercializing the whole thing. I feel that isn’t right. What I mean is we should have subjects and films that empower women because they are important for the society and not just because it is a trending topic and hence it might be feasible commercially. If a film is made with good and the right intent, the commercial part will be taken care of anyway. Having said that, we truly have come a long way forward from where we were 10-20 years back. From justified pay for women to giving them equal respect as the male counterpart, we are slowly and steadily getting close to that level but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done still. I think according to me, the biggest challenge is to focus on the right intent and keep away the commercial angle out of it. If we do that, we will make the industry an even better place for women to work and function. I am looking forward to that day.”
Well, kudos to Veronica Vanij for truly speaking her heart out with a lot of maturity and grace. Here’s hoping that the people who matter take notes from here and move forward in the right direction. On the work front, the actress has some interesting work developments happening at her end, the official announcements of which will take place soon as per the ideal timelines. Stay tuned for more updates.
