ibis India Marks World Ocean Day 2025 with Coastal Clean-Up Drive to Support Marine Conservation

National, 13 June 2025 – In honour of World Ocean Day 2025, ibis India reaffirmed its dedication to environmental sustainability through a large-scale coastal clean-up drive across the country. Ten ibis hotels in Mumbai, Chennai, Goa, and Kochi partnered with local NGOs to spearhead the initiative, rallying over 600 volunteers who collectively removed more than 500 kilograms of waste from India’s coastlines in a single day.

Aligned with this year’s global theme, “Wonder: Sustaining What Sustains Us,” the campaign aimed to spotlight the critical need to protect marine ecosystems and preserve the natural world that sustains human life.

With many ibis properties located near beaches and waterfronts, the brand witnesses the impact of ocean pollution firsthand. This initiative not only contributed to cleaner shores but also helped raise awareness within local communities and strengthened the broader mission of restoring ocean health.

“At ibis, sustainability is deeply embedded in everything we do,” said Tejus Jose, Director of Operations, ibis and ibis Styles India. “This clean-up effort went beyond removing waste—it was about inspiring lasting environmental change and reinforcing the role hospitality can play in shaping a better future.”

Beyond the clean-up, ibis hotels organised public awareness sessions on marine pollution and hosted interactive activities involving schoolchildren, fishermen, and tourists to promote collective responsibility and encourage long-term behavioural shifts towards ocean conservation.
