Mumbai, December 2025: The MET Institute of Mass Media (MET IMM) has earned a prestigious World Record from the Global Book of Excellence, England, for its groundbreaking student-led sustainable trophy initiative. This recognition highlights the institute’s commitment to experiential learning, creative innovation, and environmental responsibility.
The Certificate of World Record was officially presented at the MET Bandra Campus by Mr. Shrikant Kale, Secretary of the Global Book of Excellence, England, and received by Hon. Trustee Shri Pankaj Bhujbal. In preparation for METamorphosis 2025, the institute’s flagship annual media festival (December 11–13), students designed and constructed a remarkable 9.5-foot-tall, 350-kg trophy made entirely from e-waste and eco-friendly materials.
The large-scale installation was built live on November 18, 2025, during a six-hour creation session at the MET Bhujbal Knowledge City, Bandra, and was unveiled on December 5, 2025. A team of 69 MET IMM students collaborated across design, media, communication, fabrication, and production units to transform discarded materials into an impactful artefact symbolising sustainability and creativity.
The initiative was envisioned by Shri Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee, MET, with leadership support from Smt. Vishaka Bhujbal, Senior Management Representative, and academic guidance from Dr. Priya Menon Nair, Director, MET IMM. Renowned visual artist Dr. Sumeet Patil mentored the students throughout the artistic and structural process.
During the unveiling, Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal said, “This award symbolizes our unwavering commitment to the vision of MET, inspiring future generations to strive for excellence. This award is dedicated to our Hon. Founder Chairman, Shri Chaggan Bhujbal.”
Student leaders Ronak Thakkar and Althea Sequeira, along with their team of 67 students, continue to lead the creative, logistical, and production components of METamorphosis 2025. Their efforts embody MET IMM’s mission to nurture future-ready media professionals who innovate sustainably, think fearlessly, and lead with purpose—reflecting the festival theme: Mediaverse – Where Thoughts Glow and Time Flows.
The eco-conscious trophy will be awarded to the Best College in Mumbai during METamorphosis 2025, based on collective performance across media, cultural, intellectual, journalism, and sports events. Entirely student-led and faculty-supported, the project stands as a powerful symbol of transformation and the potential to turn waste into meaningful artistic expression.
