The chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, Ratan Naval Tata, who was also the recipient of Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan, breathed his last on Wednesday (October 9) at the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. He was 86. The death of this national icon has the whole world grieving, with political leaders, business entrepreneurs, and other public figures sharing their condolences on social media.
We spoke to a few celebrities, and here’s what they had to share:
Megha Sharma:
He inspired people through his kindness. He has achieved a lot, and his success story is truly unique. I don’t think anyone can fully match his journey. What really stands out is his humble nature and kindness towards society, people, and his workers. This has motivated millions to grow and succeed like him. He taught us that money is not everything; we must do things that keep us happy in life. And if you are capable enough, bring that happiness to others lives.
Monika Singh:
This loss seems personal. Bharat has lost its ‘Ratan’! It is truly heartbreaking to hear about Ratan Tata’s passing. He was not just a great businessman but also a kind-hearted person who cared deeply for the people of India. His love for his family and his late partner, whom he cherished, showed us the importance of love and connection in life. Ratan Tata did so much for the country, from creating jobs to supporting education and healthcare. His good deeds will always be remembered. He inspired many of us to dream big and give back to society. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who admire him. Rest in peace, Ratan Tata. You will be missed.
Umesh Ghadge:
The world has lost a giant today. Shri. Ratan Tata’s life was one of purpose, kindness, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. He was not just an industrialist and a visionary leader but also the biggest philanthropist India has seen. Sir taught us that true success lies in humility, compassion, and lifting others up. Sir is a huge part of our day-to-day life. It’s hard to imagine a day without using some or the other TATA product. He was such an ardent dog lover that stray dogs were allowed inside the Taj, his five-star hotel. Just before passing away, he built a dedicated charitable hospital for small animals. Very few know that the Tata group produced a film called ‘Aitbaar’ with Amitabh Bachchan. But the film failed, and he never invested money in any other film project after that. Thank you, sir, for everything you’ve done for India and for impacting countless lives. Your legacy will inspire us forever. Rest in peace, Sir Ratan Tata. Many of his quotes are famous for inspiration. I would like to mention one here. “Ups and downs are very important to keep us going because a straight line even in ECG means we are not alive” – Ratan Tata.
Jaideep Singh:
It feels like a personal loss because I have grown up listening about him from my Nana Ji. Both my Mama’s and Mausa’s, as all of them worked for Tata Steel in Jamshedpur, and right now, when I am writing this, my younger mama told me that the whole city has gone quiet; there is no charm left for Durga Puja in JSR. I remember seeing him once during the Tata Steel founders day celebration on 3rd March long back. I also remember when in 1989 a fire broke during theFounders Day celebrations or the 2008 Taj attacks and how he personally was present to handle the situation. Whether it’s dealing with humans or taking care of stray animals, he has touched hearts. My favorite memory/pic of his is with my mama, which I have been watching since childhood.
Aadesh Chaudhary:
Ratan Tata’s passing is a profound loss for India and the world. He was not just a business leader but a visionary who transformed the Tata Group into a global powerhouse while maintaining a strong commitment to ethics and social responsibility. His ability to blend traditional values with modern business practices set a remarkable example for future generations. From his success story, I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, innovation, and integrity. Ratan Tata faced numerous challenges throughout his career, yet he always approached them with resilience and a forward-thinking mindset. This teaches us that true leadership involves not just achieving success but also uplifting others and contributing positively to society. Ratan Tata is an inspiration to millions because he exemplified what it means to lead with purpose. His philanthropic efforts, especially in education, healthcare, and rural development, highlight his belief in giving back to the community. He showed us that success is not solely measured by financial achievements but also by the impact one has on people’s lives. His legacy will continue to inspire many to strive for excellence while remaining grounded in values that promote the greater good.
Mishal Khan:
Ratanji Tata was the pride of India. He is a gem of humanity. He will always be a role model for me and for the coming generation. He will forever be remembered as someone who truly cared and lived his life to make everyone else better. May His visionary leadership and entrepreneurial spirit continue to guide us.

Anupama Solanki:
Whenever I heard about Shri Ratan Tata, I felt proud that we Indians have some legendary icons, but after he died, I was shocked and speechless. Every second, entrepreneurs think about their businesses, but late Shri Ratan Tata always thought about India and their citizens. I am fortunate that I feel his presence, and I will pray for him and his family. He was truly Desh Bhakt and a great social worker who did good things for society. Honestly speaking, I have heard only stories of people like Ratan Tata. I always wanted to like Ratan Tata. He was an inspiration for the whole world.
