Aims to Cater 1.25 lakhs Hostel Students
New Delhi, 27 February 2025: Hostel management solutions provider FretBox is targeting to triple its operations to over 100 universities in 2025 and assist around 1.25 lakhs of students.
FretBox provides a seamless, AI-driven hostel management solution that enhances convenience and security for students while streamlining administrative tasks for university staff. Since its inception in 2023, FretBox has seen rapid adoption across 13 states, with 35 universities actively using the platform. The user base has grown significantly, increasing from just 5,000 users in March 2024 to 60,000 in February 2025.

Additionally, digital meal booking, complaint resolution, and feedback mechanisms make daily hostel life more convenient for students. Mr. Gupta also recalled the challenges the company faced while scaling the platform across different educational institutions. He said the primary challenges included resistance to digital adoption, diverse university policies, and varying levels of tech infrastructure.
“FretBox tackled these challenges by offering personalized training to hostel staff, conducting on-site onboarding, and customizing features to meet institution-specific needs. This hands-on approach led to high adoption rates and seamless transitions for universities,” he said.
On future of hostel management, Mr. Gupta said it will be driven by AI, automation, and smart campus integrations. “We foresee biometric-based hostel access & AI-powered security surveillance to become the norm. Also automated hostel fee payments and financial tracking for students and universities will be in big demand, added Mr. Gupta.
