Pan Indian Actress and human rights ambassador Sheena Chohan was honoured by environmentalist and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi at CineKind for her continued commitment to human rights, humanitarian causes and promoting compassion.
Celebrating the intersection of cinema and social impact, CineKind brought together prominent personalities, including Anant Ambani, Raveena Tandon, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh, among others, recognising the power of art and public influence to inspire meaningful change.
A highlight of the evening was the interaction between Sheena Chohan and Maneka Gandhi, who share a connection through their school years. Their conversation centred on human rights, social responsibility and the importance of extending compassion to the most vulnerable.
Sheena also spoke about her recent human rights advocacy, including her appearance at the United Nations in New York, where she addressed the importance of protecting human rights and creating meaningful change through collective action.
The discussion also touched upon animal welfare and the belief that compassion should extend to every living being. Gandhi, known for her longstanding work in animal welfare and environmental causes, shared her perspective on treating animals with dignity and kindness.
For Sheena, the honour reflected her belief that an artist’s responsibility extends beyond the screen, using visibility and influence to encourage empathy and social awareness.
“Cinema has the extraordinary power to change what people see, feel and believe is possible. For me, the greatest privilege is to use that power not only to tell beautiful stories, but to bring more compassion, courage and humanity into the world,”Sheena Chohan said.
