Those who leak papers are in trouble now. The Public Examinations Bill, 2024 has been passed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Let us tell you that to prevent irregularities in entrance examinations, the Public Examinations – Prevention of Unfair Means Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
Its main objective is to stop the use of unfair methods in examinations. This bill was introduced in the House by Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh.
The Punishment will be harsh
The charges of irregularities in examinations can lead to three to five years of jail and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh. If the convict fails to pay the fine, under Section 10(1) of the Bill, ‘the accused shall be punished with additional punishment of imprisonment in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Code of Justice, 2023.’

Purpose of the bill
The Bill aims to increase transparency, fairness and credibility in public examination systems. This will ensure that the future of the youth is secure. The bill introduced by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has been introduced to prevent paper leaks and cheating in recruitment examinations and entrance examinations like UPSC, SSC, NEET, JEE and CUET.
