Panjim, Goa – August 5, 2025: A poignant tribute to Goa’s capital city, Moji Khuxalkai (meaning My Happiness) is the latest Konkani song stirring hearts across the region. Featured in the upcoming film Mog Asum, the song is a poetic and emotional homage to Panjim—its heritage, spirit, and quiet strength.
A Love Letter to ‘Ponje’
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Agnelo Angelo Braganza, Mog Asum is a Konkani film that explores the universal themes of love, loss, belonging, and identity. Nestled at the core of this narrative is Moji Khuxalkai, a track that serves as the film’s emotional heartbeat.
Far from being just a musical interlude, the song is a homecoming — one that brings to life the soul of Panjim as remembered by generations. From the dancing sunlight on the Mandovi, to the golden sands of Miramar, and the charming, cobbled lanes of Fontainhas, the song captures a Panjim once known as Ponje — a city of grace, harmony, and cultural depth.
Director’s Tribute and Cautionary Tale
Sharing his thoughts, Director Agnelo Braganza reflects:
“This song is an ode to my city of Ponje—a riverside capital, tranquil, diverse, and democratic. It shaped me — my memories, friendships, and connection to nature. This is my way of saying thank you—Merci, Gracias, Obrigado.”
Yet, amid the nostalgia, Moji Khuxalkai sounds a gentle alarm.
“The beauty that was is now buried under concrete, lost to unchecked tourism and cultural erosion. The song is both a celebration and a warning—a memory of what Ponje was, and a plea for what it must not become.”
A Composition Born of Devotion
The music, composed by Myron Estibeiro, blends melody with meaning.
“It’s a tribute to Panjim’s timeless beauty,” says Estibeiro. “The lyrics reflect a mutual admiration—between two lovers, and between people and their city.”
Performed by Venizia Dias and Myron Estibeiro, the track offers a deeply personal yet universally relatable experience.
