“My bond with my brother has always been very special,” Gauri recalls with a smile. “He has always been my biggest protector and strongest support system. Even today, I live with him, and we’re more like best friends than siblings.
As a child, I would get excited about Raksha Bandhan only because of the gifts—I’d ask him days in advance for exactly what I wanted! Back then, it was all about the rakhi and the presents. But as we’ve grown up, I’ve realised it’s about so much more—the unspoken promise, the emotional connection, and knowing someone will always have your back.”
The Mythology That Inspires
For Gauri, the festival also carries a deep spiritual resonance. “I’ve always loved the story from the Mahabharata—how Draupadi tore her saree and tied a piece around Krishna’s wrist, and how he later protected her in her time of need. That simple act became the heart of Raksha Bandhan, a reminder of protection, trust, and unconditional love.
It’s not just about rituals; it’s about celebrating the people who stand by us no matter what.”
